The main reason we use a bucket in cleaning is to hold water and detergent or soaps that we may use to clean. Consider for a moment what happens if you run water into your sink and mop your floor, rinsing the mop in the sink. You may end up with a lot of dirt in the sink that is hard to remove. By using a bucket, you pour it outside and you are done.
Mops remove the left-over dirt that sweeping may miss on a hardwood or vinyl floor. It may also give you the ability to remove stains from the floor as well. This depends on the detergent that you use.
The type of mop that you choose to use may be different from what your neighbor your friend uses. This is because there are many different styles. Wetjets, spin mops, rope mops, cloth mops, and much more. They are all good options for the right situation, but you ultimately have to decide which one you feel most comfortable using.

Many of the ones available today are soft enough to not damage a surface but strong enough to remove even stuck-on foods or stains.
46. Spray Bottle
Spray bottles are always nice to have around. Whether you have one or twenty, we feel that most people will find plenty of uses for them. You can mix up different cleaners, buy cleaners in bulk and then use smaller bottles to make it usable, and have bleach with water mixed and ready when you need it. Either way, it will make all your cleaning tasks easier.
If you have a lot of spray bottles, you can use a permanent marker to write on the bottle what is inside of them. This will ensure that you do not grab the bleach when you simply want to make your floors smell nicer.
47. Trash Bags
Whether you have small trash cans or bins in your bathroom, large ones in your kitchen, or supersized ones in your yard, a trash bag should be inside of them before trash goes near it. It makes clean up a lot easier and can keep the odors down as well. There are all different sizes of trash bags available.
One thing that really helps us enjoy trash bags is that now many of the kinds available have added scents. The scent is designed to help your home smell nice and not like the stuff that we toss into the trash bin.
48. Trash Bin
What do you do with trash if you have no bin to put it into? The truth is one of the kitchen essentials items that you can’t forget. If we do not have a space that can hold our garbage, our house may never get clean. Whether it’s a scrap of paper, junk mail, or anything else. We would live in clutter and disarray if we didn’t have a bin near our computer area, in our kitchen, bathroom, and other areas of our home.
49. Vacuum Cleaner
Homes that have carpet will want to have a vacuum cleaner. You could use a broom to sweep your carpet, but to effectively get it clean, you need to be able to pull sand and hair out of the deepest fibers of the carpet. A broom will only clean the surface. The air from a vacuum reaches deep and sucks up the trash that may be unseen by your eyes.
You have several brands available to choose from. There are pet vacuums that promise to pick up more pet hair than standard vacuums. There are those that can go from thick carpets to tile flooring. You have to choose a vacuum that will work best for your home and your needs.

A cupboard is a great place to store every kitchen essentials from dishes to food items that do not need to be refrigerated. Some people use it for dishes that are needed for special occasions. They are very often used as a pantry because they have a lot of shelves, which allows us to sort out our food into categories. They are also larger than traditional kitchen cabinets.

A pull-out faucet is basically the same thing, except its body works in a straight line. Single or double-handled faucets are also available, depending on the style you like and how easy you want it to be to adjust. Commercial style faucets are tall and may offer multiple spraying options. Pot filling faucets mount above your stove to fill pots without you having to lift them. Today’s faucets can even be equipped with motion detection to make it more sanitary when you wash your hands. Which one will you choose?
53. Kitchen Sliding Hooks
A sliding hook in your kitchen will allow you to hang up some of your kitchen essentials, your pots, pans, and cooking utensils so that you can find what you are looking for easier. To take advantage of it, you hang the slider and hooks. Then hang your kitchen essentials on it. When you are looking through your items, you simply slide the “wrong” ones out of the way. This saves you from dealing with messy clutter in your cabinets and will help your time in the kitchen be more productive.
Who doesn’t like having shelves in the kitchen? Whether they are inside a cabinet, cupboard, or pantry, you will always find something to store on a shelf. Some may also be used purely for decoration, to hold plates that you have collected over the years, or to hold trinkets. Some shelves for the kitchen may sit above your sink.
The sole purpose of a shelf is to give you more space. Where you put it and how you use it is up to you.
A sink goes with a kitchen in the same way that a bathroom needs a toilet. It isn’t a kitchen if you cannot have running water for dishes, cooking, cleaning, and other things. It does not matter whether you have a double sink, a single sink, metal, or ceramic; you just need a sink sometimes. There is no real shortage of options for a kitchen sink, so you can put it where you want it and choose the style that meets your needs the best.
A kitchen is the heart of a home. We prepare foods, we talk with friends and family, we may do homework with our kids in this area above all others. 56. Finger Guard
Have you ever been chopping something and have the knife slip, cutting your finger? It is not an experience that most of us would call fun! In fact, most of us try to avoid doing it if possible! That is where the finger guard comes in. These little devices put a protective shield between your fingertips and the knife that you are using to cut and chop with. Some are made like rings that slip over your middle finger. Others are designed to fit like a cone over each of your fingers.
You can choose metal or plastic, depending on what your preferences are. Which one do you think will be more comfortable for you?
57. Fire extinguisher
No matter how careful we are, kitchen fires can, and sometimes do happen. A pot we forget to turn off, a little bit of grease splatter, anything can happen. Our hope is that you never witness it firsthand, but if a fire were to start in your kitchen, you need a way to put it out quickly. For most homeowners, a fire extinguisher is the best solution they could ever hope for in the case of an emergency.
If you can put out a fire as soon as it begins, you will save money in the long run. You will have to replace less and have less cleanup to deal with.
58. Fire Extinguisher Ball
One of the newest ways to fight fires in the home and in other situations is a fire extinguishing ball. These balls are relatively small when purchased for home use. You can leave them in a stationary position nearby where a fire could happen. They can automatically kick in if heat or smoke is detected. So this is a very important item that we can’t miss to put in our kitchen essentials list.
In other situations, they can also be tossed into a fire, ensuring that you never have to get close to it. In some ways, this is better than a traditional fire extinguisher, but it is all about your personal preferences.
59. Gas Detector
Considering natural gas is odorless, you have no way of knowing that there is a leak. However, your body will know, and it could end up being very harmful to your family’s health.
Gas detectors are designed to detect when the air quality is lacking because it could mean that there are toxins present. They do it by being able to detect when oxygen levels are lowered. It is most beneficial if you heat or cook with gas, but because smoke lowers air quality, it can give you a backup smoke detector.
60. Smoke Detector
Where there is smoke, there is usually fire, or at least a lot of heat! Smoke detectors are able to sense the smoke and heat. They then sound an alarm that will wake up most people during deep sleep. This can allow you to get out of the house if there is a fire before it becomes something that hurts you or your family.
In most cases, you should have a smoke detector in your kitchen, in your bedrooms, living rooms, and on each floor of your home for the most protection. Admittedly, they may sometimes give a false alarm. For instance, if you burn something you are cooking. The times when they sound, and it isn’t a false alarm could save your life and your home.
You can choose to have a smoke detector that works for only smoke and heat, or you can have a combination detector that works for all carbon monoxides. If you do not have natural gas or propane in your home, the smoke detector could be all that you need, but ultimately it is up to you.
There you have it. Our 60 kitchen essentials list has come to an end. Many of the things on our list have been practical things that everyone should remember and own. Others may have been things that you did not consider or think about. If even one of our ideas has helped you transform your kitchen into a more functional area, then we have done our job. We hope that we have succeeded in making your life and all things kitchen related, easier.
