Easy homemade mashed potatoes
Posted by Matthew A. Gonzalez
Noel and I were wondering why we waste our money with pre-made mashed potatoes when a small bag of red potatoes costs less than the instant stuff and yields a much better product. So Noel decided to re-purpose a recipe for twice-baked potatoes her mom gave her a while back and made these really simple and really tasty mashed potatoes. The only tough part is timing it right with the rest of your food so they don’t get cold!
- 6 small red potatoes
- 1 tbsp of sourcream
- 1/4 tsp of garlic powder (More garlic powder means more garlicky potatoes — duh.)
Tools & cookware
- Pot to boil potatoes
- Large bowl
- Potato smasher
- Wash the potatoes.
- Boil them for 25 minutes or until soft. It may take longer than 25 minutes.
- Scoop out the potatoes, put them in a large bowl and add the tbsp of sour cream, 1/4 tsp of garlic powder and salt to taste.
- With the potato smasher, mash up the potatoes, skin and all.
- Serve while still hot.
